Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of contact with rotating parts and ingoing nip points: a)Production Dept., Lakes Xero Graphic Module line, on or about 11/21/01: Ingoing nip points and rotating parts at the take-up pulley and idler pulley on a New London Engineering conveyor, Serial #99-53855, were not guarded. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards are to install barrier guards over the pulleys and/or install an emergency trip wire along the conveyor, in accordance with ANSI B20.1, 1993, Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment. Abatement documentation must be submitted for this item.
