Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the following condition(s): a) For the period of time up to and including 26 Oct 01, the employer did not verify that affected employee(s) could demonstrate a thorough understanding in the proper use of fall protection, such as but not limited to when and what PPE is necessary. This condition exposed employee(s) to the hazards and injuries related to falls from elevations of approx 100 ft. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide specific fall protection training for situations that feild service technicians may encounter. In addition, conduct on the job evaluations to assure that the technicians understand and implement the fall protection requirements as they relate to the various field locations.
