Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling from an unsecured forklift work platform: On or about 02/07/02 Location: Throughout plant a) Employees used a work platform on a Clark C-500-70 forklift that was not securely attached to the forks. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: a) Mount and secure the work platform to the forks or lifting frame. b) Ensure employees inspect forklift and components for defects and proper installation. NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.ce
