Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)impregnation area -- under-the-hook lifting devices (spiders) were not individually labeled as to the maximum weight each had been load tested with. REFERENCE:ANSI B30.20-1985, Chapter 20-1, Section 20-1.2, Paragraph 20-1.2.1 The rated load of the lifting device shall be marked on the main structure where it is visible. NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to properly label each lifting device with its' rated load.
