Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or about 03/08/01 Location:Wet Mix Room Condition:Employees removed combustible flare ignition mixture residues from the floor and other surfaces using a ferrous metal floor scraper. Among other, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit the use of any potential ignition producing scraping tools and to fully cover the floor using disposable coverings to minimize manual cleaning. (b)Date of Violation:On or about 03/08/01 Location:Button Fill Room Condition:Employees removed combustible flare ignition mixture residues from the floor and other surfaces using a ferrous metal floor scraper. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to prohibit the use of any potential ignition producing scraping tools and to fully cover the floor disposable coverings to minimize manual cleaning. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
