Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 3/21/02, an employee was working from the front bucket of a Caterpillar 928G front-end loader exposing the employee to the hazard of a fall or being crushed. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to prohibit employees from using the front end loader to lift employees or using the bucket as a work platform. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
