Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazard. a.On or about February 13, 2003, employees washing windows from boatswain's chairs did not have adequate fall protection in that they did not have an independent lifeline separate from the primary repelling line, exposing them to a fall hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use independent lifelines separate from the primary repelling line in accordance with the American National Standards Institute A39.1-1995, Safety Requirements for Window Cleaning. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.TION
