Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard: a.On or about August 12, 2002, a front-end loader operator was moving hardwood logs in the unloading area when he backed off a ledge which caused the front-end loader to roll on its side. The employee was not wearing a seatbelt, and ejected from his seat, and crushed by the roof of the cab. b.One feasible abatement method is to enforce the policy that employees must wear seatbelts when operating powered industrial equipment. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS NOT REQUIRED.
