Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: GUARDING
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:10/13/00 Condition:Employees operating pasta machines were not trained how to safely operate the equipment nor were they traveled in the recognition and avoidance of the hazards associated with the rotating and moving parts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train all operators in the safe operation of the equipment, and to conduct regular inspections to ensure guards are in place and are operational. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
