Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CONFINED
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that werecausing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees in that the employees were exposed to the recognized hazards of hazardous atmosphere while performing entry into a confined space: Work site City of Dallas' two million gallon elevated water storage tank located at 5920 Forest Lane Dallas, Texas: Entry(ies) were made into the wet riser of the two million gallon water storage tank, for the purpose of conducting sand blasting and painting operations without assuring acceptable atmospheric conditions for all periods of entry. Among other methods, a recognized and feasible means of abatement to correct this hazard includes, but is not limited to the full implementation of the elements required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard Z117.1 (Safety Requirements for Confined Spaces)
