31-372-101 Section 31-370(a) of the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with a defective hydraulic automotive lift: Location: (A)Town of Branford, Department of Public Works Maintenance Garage (1)The hydraulic automotive lift had defects including but not limited to a hydraulic leak and non-working locking device that allowed the lift to creep down after being raised. Feasible means of abatement should include but not limited to: 1)Implementation of a lift inspection program. 2)Removal of equipment from service when defects that effect employee safety are found.
