Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being electrocuted: (a) Compressor Room: On or about 8/9/02, employees were exposed to the hazard of being shocked or electrocuted by live electrical parts on the panel. (b) Top of stairway, port side: On or about 8/9/02, employees were exposed to the hazard of being shocked or electrocuted by live electrical parts in holes in the panel box. (c) Processing room, port side: On or about 8/9/02, employees were exposed to the hazard of being shocked from the lack of outer insulation on one wire leading to a receptacle. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that employees are protected from live parts by the installation of appropriate covers and/or insulation.
