Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck by or fall hazard from a powered industrial truck while unloading semi-trailers: At this location, the employer did not ensure that adequate communication between the truck driver and the operator unloading the truck to assure that the operator was clear of the trailer prior to the trailer being moved away from the dock. One method of abatement is for the truck driver to be released only by the person unloading the truck.ing
