Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being hit by large over-the-road dump trucks that were traveling through the work area: (a) Large over-the-road dump trucks were traveling through the concrete pavement cutting work zone without an established traffic control plan that would prevent an accident involving the CPSS employees working on the pavement and the dump trucks traveling through the work zone. A meeting was held with the contractors involved in this situation and an alternate dump truck traffic pattern was devised and implemented immediately after the meeting concluded.
