Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On and before September 6, 2002 employees of Topflight Grain Cooperative's Cisco Branch were exposed to a fourteen foot, six inch fall while working atop the railcars, East and West of the elevator complex, and the employer did not require the use of fall protection. Among other methods, one feasible and effective means of abatement includes: a. Provide a personal fall arrest system for employee use while atop the rail cars.
