Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazard of over pressurization of a truck tire resulting in an explosion. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method(s) to correct this hazard include: (1) Ensure all air pressure regulators are installed according to the manufacturer instructions and can reduce delivered pressure to less than 10 psi, (2) Install a pressure relief valve on the supply line connected to the tire to ensure the tire pressure cannot exceed the tire manufacturers rated pressure.
