Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards of fall from structural steel 32-34 feet high and being struck by structural steel members. A) 67 RT. 46, Fairfield,NJ 07004 Structural steel framing under construction did not have a sufficient number of guy cable bracing to secure the structure and prevent sway or collapse. Structure had only two (2) cables installed. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a sufficient number of guy cables in accordance with the erection drawings, notes and after consulting with qualified engineers to secure the building in a manner to preclude sway, displacement and/or collapse.
