Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:04/06/00 Location:Mechanics Shop Condition:Employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by ruptured plastic piping. Rigid 3/4" ID schedule 40 PVC conduit was installed and used to distribute compressed air at 117 PSI. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to replace the PVC conduit and fittings with steel pipe that is approved for this use. The proposed penalty for this item has been reduced by 50for effective and efficient abatement during the inspection.
