Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The employer did not provide a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to ignition of heat powder collected in bags that were not anti-static. a) C and Porter Street, Joplin, Missouri 64801 on 11/01/00 an employee was collecting accumulated waste bags from the pill room. A bag of iron heat powder, a static sensitive material, contained in a NON ANTI-STATIC bag was being loaded onto a cart for transport when a static spark, generated from inside the bag ignited and exploded. This subsequently igninted the remainder of the waste in the area. Abatement includes aquisition and use of static free collection bags for the static sensitive waste (referenced in Section 7-8.2.2. Plastic Bags and Drums of NFPA 77, "Recommended Practices on Static Electricity").o/JyyJp\
