Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: OTHER
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to:wind overload of a crane and uncontrolable swinging loads. On or about 02/21/01 employees were exposed to the possible hazards of swinging loads and crane collapse due to the employer not having installed a wind velocity gauge in view of the operator to enable him to tell when excessive wind condition existed. Among other methods ,one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is found in A.N.S.I B30-1975.3-1.2.16 which requires a wind indicating device on the crane which will give a visible or audible alarm to the operator at a predetermined wind velocity PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
