Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by falling objects: On or about 02/01/01, employees were allowed to walk underneath of the work area where overhead work was being conducted. The area was not barricaded to prevent employees from being exposed to a struck-by hazard while an employee was removing the barrel of an overhead rolling door. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to prohibit employees from entering underneath the work area while in the process of removing the overhead door. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
