Section 5 a()(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Being crushed by a horizontal motorized parking lot gate. a)Main office parking lot gate. Employees were exposed to crushing injuries due to the fact that there was no automatic reverse provided on the horizontal moving motorized gate, on or about 3/20/01. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to install photoelectric sensors or edge sensors, as per The Door and Access Systems Manufactures Association`s (DASMA) requirements, June 2000. NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.ce
