Section 5(a)(1) of the occupational safety and health act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employement and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to slipping and falling hazards while working at an ice covered construction site not adequately sanded: Location: Throughout the work site. Workers were exposed to serious injuries from slipping and falling on ice while accessing the work site. One method of abatement among others would be to sand the ice areas on a frequent basis.
