North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an overhead falling object: production floor, rear -- employees were using an overhead David Pound 1/2 ton electric powered wire rope hoist to place and remove 100 pound die jigs onto a Mozak V-10 precision lathe. Periodic and frequent hoist inspections were not performed in accordance with ANSI B30-1981, sec. 16-2.1.1(a). One feasible method among others, is to perform and document periodic and frequent hoist inspections in accordance with ANSI B30-1981, sec. 16-2.1.1(a).
