Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of bodily injury resulting from falling overhead doors. The 2 overhead doors are being propped open by pieces of wood. The two overhead doors are used to facilitate fork truck traffic into and out of the production and polishing areas. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to have the defective parts repaired or replaced to bring both of the doors in to compliance with the requirements and specifications established by American National Standard Institute and National Garage Door Manufacturers for Sectional Over Head Type Doors, "ANSI/NAGDM 102-1988" Section 9.3 Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item.
