Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of burns and explosions from gas lines not being protected from vehicular traffic: a) At 616 G St. Greeley, CO. (Platte River By-Products plant site): Employees were exposed to burns and explosion hazards. The natural gas supply lines on the south side of the building were not protected from vehicular traffic. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to install traffic ballards and rails. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item.
