Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by objects suspended from homemade hooks welded together from rebar: a) Outdoor yard - Overhead Crane No. Y-2 had rebar used to hold lifting hooks. (Item 28a) b) OH-Crane Y-10 - Spreader beam was modified with lifting eyes. (Item 30a) Feasible and acceptable abatement methods include, but are not necessarily limited to: Design and test all lifting devices in accordance with ANSI B30.20 - Below the Hook Lifting Devices. NO DOCUMENTATION OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
