Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of burns: (a)Kitchen: On or about August 23, 2000 and at times prior thereto the burners on the gas cooking stove did not automatically light due to failure of the gas ignitor, nor did the gas automatically turn off if the burners failed to light, exposing employees to the hazard of burns from ignition of an excessive accumulation of natural gas. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS REPAIR THE IGNITORS IN THE BURNERS. Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.
