Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5 (a) (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about August 29,2000, at the Saratoga Oil field jobsite, a derrick block was used as a personnel lift to lift employee from ground level to a work platform at elevation. Fall protection was not used and an employee fell approximately 80 feet from the derrick block. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to provide fall protection equipment and enforce the usage of the equipment.
