Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by a falling wall: a.700 Main Street, Hampstead, NH - Adequate safe erection practices were not followed while seven employees manually raised a 14 foot long by 15 foot high wall which weighed approximately 1000 pounds. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to properly utilize wall jacks which would eliminate the need for employees to work under the structure being raised during erection.
