Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of burns: (a)McComb Substation - On or about July 10, 2000 the employer allowed employees who were subject to being exposed to electric apparatus, to wear material which was not either flame retardant or 100cotton of the appropriate weight for the conditions they were exposed to. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is: 1 -Require employees exposed to energized equipment to wear flame retardant clothing or 100cotton of the appropriate weight. 2 -Require foreman to inspect clothing prior to employee exposure. 3 - Enforce clothing policy.
