Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) the hazard of being struck by an on-coming vehicle. On 10-17-98, an employee assisting in the unloading of furniture was struck by a truck backing into the congested alley. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to park commercial vehicles within an alley so that at least ten (10) feet of width of roadway remains clear to provide for the free movement of vehicular traffic as adopted by San Angelo traffic ordinances.
