Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees were in a self propelled extensible boom aerial lift without any fall arrest equipment. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Platforms and have employees wear fall arrest equipment anytime that they are in the aerial lift. Employees working from a JLG aerial lift at the jobsite located at 18th and Michigan, Chicago, IL, emolyees were exposed to falls due to the lack of personal fall arrest equipment.
