Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)On or about 4/2/98, Warehouse, Hot Rooms, Loading docks and Rampways in Bldg.605 & 505 - Employees were observed operating Yale fork trucks with the restraint devices not being used, thereby exposing the employees to serious injury as a result of entrapment of the operator's head and/or torso between the truck and the ground in the event of tipover. Abatement: One feasible means of abatement, among others, is to enforce the usage of seat belts on all fork trucks. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
