Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees condition of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)struck-by and/or crushed by heavy equipment - another companies employee died when an International 412 Series "B" Scraper rolled back crushing the employee against the body of a "low boy" transport trailer when the scraper was been loaded onto the trailer. The scraper's brakes were inoperative and was not taken out of service in accordance with manufacture recommendations: One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is repair the equipment brakes.
