Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Rte I-95 Southbound; Employees laying out pipe along the shoulder of the road for a length of approximately 440 feet were exposed to a struck-by hazard due to their not being provided the benefit of a Worksite Traffic Supervisor on site, who could recognize evidence of a situation that could result in an employee being struck by a vehicle, IE: lack of barricades erected along work zone. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to have a Certified Worksite Traffic Supervisor on site whenever the Highway Work Zone changes. Violation observed on or about 8/19/99 PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
