Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck or run over by the wheels of material handling equipment: (a) Yard area - Employees were working in the vicinity of the two straddle carriers and the operator's views were obscured, on or about 9/30/97. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD AREA: l. Personnel deflecting guards installed around the leading edges of the wheels: 2. Audible horns or alarms: 3.
