Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico: El patrono no proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten causando o que puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban expuestos a: Employees were exposed to serious injuries do to the collapse or turn of the racks. At Miramar Architectural Products Manufacturers, Inc., where the employees join doors and door cases and where they were doing shipping and merchandise tasks it were observed the following: 1.) At materials shipping and receiving area, where the employees transit to do their tasks, the racks were not bound with screws to the floor. 2.) At the door frames parts storage area, where the employees transit to do their tasks, the racks that hold the galvanized doors were not bound with screws to the floor. The doors weight between 60 to 80 pounds and 80 inches to 90 inches high. 3.) At the panels and doors area, where the employees transit to do their tasks, the racks were not bound with screws to the floor. The employer use the racks to store door frames parts and crossbeams. The door frames parts were from 80 inches to 90 inches high. The crossbeams were from 24 inches to 72 inches high. The components weight fluctuate between 5 to 15 pounds. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable, abatement method to corect this hazard is bind the racks with screws to the floor. Los empleados estuvieron expuestos a serias lesiones a causa de que colapsen o se viren los anaqueles. En Miramar Architectural Products Manufacturers, Inc., donde los empleados ensamblan puertas y marcos y hacen entregas de mercancia se observo lo siguiente: 1.) En el area de recibo y entrega, por donde los empleados transitan para llevar a cabo sus tareas, los anaqueles no estaban amarrados con tornillos al suelo. 2.) En el area de almacenaje de puertas, por donde los empleados transitan para llevar a cabo sus tareas, los anaqueles que sostienen las puertas galvanizadas de 60 libras a 80 libras y de 80 pulgadas a 90 pulgadas no tenian los tornillos de agarre al suelo. 3.) En el area de "stock", por donde los empleados transitan para llevar a cabo sus tareas, los anaqueles no tenian los tornillos de agarre al suelo. En estos anaqueles se almacenan los componentes para marcos y cabezales. Los marcostienen una altura desde 80 pulgadas hasta 90 pulgadas y los cabezales son desde 24 pulgadas hasta 72 pulgadas. El material utilizado es acero galvanizado. El peso de los componentes fluctua entre las 5 libras y 15 libras. Entre otros metodos de correccion uno factible y aceptable es anclar los anaqueles con tornillos al piso.
