Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fractures and crushing injuries due to the bent and broken racks which results in an unstable load: Freezer Area - The racking system in the freezer had bent and broken rungs. Products were stored directly over the bent and broken rungs possibly causing an unstable load. ABATEMENT METHOD - One feasible form of abatement would be to fix the racking system or remove the product off of the racks where the rungs are damaged.
