Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)5480 Industrial Park Drive - On or about October 19, 2010, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while operating forklifts without wearing seat belts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require employers to wear seat belts when operting folklifts as referenced in ANSI B56 1- 1913, Secton 5.3.19: An active aperator protection device or system, when provided, shall be used. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIREDATION
