Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a)Old Car Shop - On or about 03/25/09, employees were exposed to crushing hazards while operating a rough terrain lift (Lull) without wearing seat belts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require employees to wear seat belts when operating rough terrain lifts as referenced in ANSI B56.6-1992, Section 6.2.1(a): Be in operating position and fasten seat belt, if so equipped.
