Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death of serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by/amputation hazards: (a) On or about 06/12/07 an employee was exposed to struck by/amputations hazards while cutting grass on the West Side of Market Garden Road, Fort Campbell, KY. An employee operating a John Deer 737 Z Trak Tractor was not wearing the manufacturer's supplied seat belt. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train employees to wear the safety belt whenever they are operating the equipment and to enforce the wearing of the safety belt while operating equipment with Roll Over Protection System (ROPS).
