Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a)Dock Area - Employees roll 1046 tub carts on and off mail trucks, without the use of dock levelers, scissors lifts, or suitable dock boards, where there was a deviation of 9-3/4" in height between the bed of the truck and the dock platform, causing a tripping, and falling hazard due to loss of control of the tub cart. Among others, one feasible means of abatement would be to provide dock plates to be used when loading and unloading carts from the two ton mail trucks. Abatement Documentation Required
