Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads: ASSEMBLY ROOM: THE WIRE ROPE PROVIDED ON THE DAYTON 500 POUND OVERHEAD HOIST WAS WORN AND DAMAGED. IT WAS USED WITH THE CNC CHIP COLLECTION SYSTEM. ONE FEASIBLE AND USEFUL METHOD TO CORRECT THE HAZARD, AMONG OTHERS, IS TO: 1.REPLACE THE WORN DAMAGED WIRE ROPE ON THE DAYTON HOIST. 2.IMPLEMENT A PROGRAM OF REGULAR, DOCUMENTED HOIST INSPECTIONS AND PERFORM MAINTENANCE/REPAIR AS NEEDED.
