Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a.On or about June 10, 2004, employees were operating defective Mack trucks to haul scrape steel from barges at the marine terminal to steel mill. The defects consisted of but was not limited to: broken windshields impairing drivers visibility; broken or missing headlights; broken or missing hood latches; broken or missing back-up alarms. One feasible means of correcting these hazards are to have drivers perform inspection checklists daily and have maintenance performed on noted items. ABATEMENT VERIFICATION REQUIRED
