Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck or crushed by the hoisted load and the crane body of the 150 ton Grove TM 1500 Mobile Hydraulic Crane, serial# Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure the total lifted load including the rigging does not exceed the rated load of the crane for the specified load radius in accordance with section 15-3.2.1-a and section 15-3.2.3-b.3 of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B30.15-1973, Mobil Hydraulic Cranes.
