Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a caught between hazard: a) Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit - The employer did not ensure that the forklift operator adhered to the manufacturer's requirement that seat belts be used during vehicle operation. An employee was observed operating a Toyota forklift without the use of the seat belt while unloading a truck trailer. On or about 11/23/98. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require and enforce the use of seat belts by employees while operating powered industrial trucks.
