Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling approximately 12 feet from a platform supported by the forks of a high lift truck. On or about 1/28/98: A) 2021 Winton Road, north wing of the building. An unguarded platform supported by the forks of a Lull Fork Lift Truck was used to support employees who were caulking windows. The platform was not adequately secured to the forks and fall protection was not provided along the front side. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION IS: To use a safety platform secured to the lifting carriage and/or forks as stipulated by ANSI B56.1-1975, sections 427 and 513A, American National Standard for Power Industrial Trucks (lowlift and highlift trucks).
