Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of getting thrown out of the operators seat and being crushed by industrial lift truck. Various locations - Employees were observed operating industrial fork lifts near the loading area without wearing safety belts. This exposed employees to struck-by / crushed-by hazards should the forklift(s) tipover that could result in fatal injuries when their upper body parts were struck/crushed by the lift truck over head protection device or lifting equipment on or about 6/17/99.
