Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: Warren Analytical Laboratory, Hwy. 287 North, Cactus, TX. For the period of time up to and including 10/07/99, the exhaust ventilation for an AO Smith 50-gallon natural gas water heater (model FSG50-242) was not connected. This exposed employees to injuries and illnesses associated with natural gas exposure. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods include: 1) Connecting the vent pipe to the water heater. 2) Installing an electronic pilot light.
